favorites of the moment

Old Navy sunnies

Watching the Julie & Julia marathon is such inspiration to move forward on my blog. Don’t you just love the idea of Julie’s blog? I wish I was a great cook. With creativity flowing like crazy, I decided to start sharing some of my random favorites throughout the week….almost like a photo diary, I guess you could say. Mostly fashion of course, but a little bit of everything from my daily activities. ENJOY!!!

neons & nudes

Shopping, of course, never gets old. For the most part, it’s very relaxing to me. Finding great pieces at discounted prices, relaxing with my Starbucks, and people watching…a great way to spend a day doing what I love. This, my followers, is what I consider quality alone time. Doesn’t it feel good to find that one or two items that feel so good when you try it on? Of course there is nothing like a good ol’ shoe shopping kind-of-day!!! On this day, a few Free People pieces and an Anthropologie scarf, seen here, were added to the wardrobe. I’m digging the whole nude and neon trend, especially this Forever21 hi-low cami. It goes with everything. How do you guys feel about this trend?

henry ford museum

On this rainy day, we chose to attend the 100th Anniversary Titanic Exhibition at the Henry Ford Museum. If this ever comes to your town, you must see it. So many great artifacts are displayed, along with these boarding passes that represent passengers of the Titanic. (I had to rely on myself for pictures, explaining the minimal outfit photos taken). I’m not one for history, but I was extremely excited about the little bit of fashion history that we spotted. I think my 80’s inspired top was appropriate for this day!!!

trends: the sneaker

When it comes to comfort, I am definitely your T-shirt and jeans kind of gal but NO SNEAKERS. In fact, I don’t think I even own a pair besides my Puma running shoes. Sandals, wedges, or my favorite Forever21 taupe platform heels is my ultimate go to for comfort, but lately I have seen so many girls rocking sneakers and really catching my attention. I feel that this is a trend I should possibly jump upon and at least give it a good try. I’m thinking I’m more of the plain canvas sneaker type and not so much the Converse wearing lady. In my opinion, they make you look like you’re wearing those silly, oversized yellow clown shoes. They’re just plain odd. I recently read on Refinery29, see article here, about Converse’s “Design Your Own” shoe builder. Creativity at it’s best, I must say, but I just don’t see a pair of long toed, flat footed pair of sneakers making me feel stylish…but then why again do I keep thinking about them? I don’t know, what do you guys think? Is this a trend to try or a big huge bust in the fashion department? Oh decisions, decisions.

If you haven’t yet, go to Converse.com and create your own pair of sneakers. Click here to see my creation!!!

anthropologie scarf

With less than two months until the big move to California, my days off are filled with sun and spent on the beautiful surrounding lakes in my hometown. Friends have taken up every free day I have and what better way to spend them then on the lake. Of course every outing I attend is another chance to spice things up in the fashion department (work doesn’t allow me to do much of this). I’m currently obsessed with mixing prints, as you can see on Instagram, and this new Anthropologie scarf has appeared many times, maybe even too many. The colors scream “hot Mexico summer” and livens up the black and white floral design on this maxi. Although this day was particularly warm, I could not stand not showing her colors again. Did I mention I got it for only $19?…I just love a good find.

There’s nothing like a week long vacation with your family in your home state. Drummond Island, MI is one of the most beautiful places to see. 4th of July week was one for the books and I’m so happy to say that it will be a repeat next year. Open water bays, kayaking, white sand…PARADISE. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday as well!!!
