Shopping, of course, never gets old. For the most part, it’s very relaxing to me. Finding great pieces at discounted prices, relaxing with my Starbucks, and people watching…a great way to spend a day doing what I love. This, my followers, is what I consider quality alone time. Doesn’t it feel good to find that one or two items that feel so good when you try it on? Of course there is nothing like a good ol’ shoe shopping kind-of-day!!! On this day, a few Free People pieces and an Anthropologie scarf, seen here, were added to the wardrobe. I’m digging the whole nude and neon trend, especially this Forever21 hi-low cami. It goes with everything. How do you guys feel about this trend?
On this rainy day, we chose to attend the 100th Anniversary Titanic Exhibition at the Henry Ford Museum. If this ever comes to your town, you must see it. So many great artifacts are displayed, along with these boarding passes that represent passengers of the Titanic. (I had to rely on myself for pictures, explaining the minimal outfit photos taken). I’m not one for history, but I was extremely excited about the little bit of fashion history that we spotted. I think my 80’s inspired top was appropriate for this day!!!

With less than two months until the big move to California, my days off are filled with sun and spent on the beautiful surrounding lakes in my hometown. Friends have taken up every free day I have and what better way to spend them then on the lake. Of course every outing I attend is another chance to spice things up in the fashion department (work doesn’t allow me to do much of this). I’m currently obsessed with mixing prints, as you can see on Instagram, and this new Anthropologie scarf has appeared many times, maybe even too many. The colors scream “hot Mexico summer” and livens up the black and white floral design on this maxi. Although this day was particularly warm, I could not stand not showing her colors again. Did I mention I got it for only $19?…I just love a good find.
As you can see, the blog has received a beautiful face lift and we are back in action. It has not been long sense I started this blog, but with some great advice and learning what I love about other blogs, I just knew it was time. What do you guys think? I would love to hear your thoughts. I hope you all have had a great week so far!!!

There’s nothing like a week long vacation with your family in your home state. Drummond Island, MI is one of the most beautiful places to see. 4th of July week was one for the books and I’m so happy to say that it will be a repeat next year. Open water bays, kayaking, white sand…PARADISE. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday as well!!!
With a much needed wardrobe facelift, it was time to hit the stores. To my surprise I found AMAZING items at the local Salvation Army/thrift store. It boggles my mind how people give away such great pieces like these The Limited Aubrey Fit wide leg trousers in cream. They are simply timeless. I’ve been searching for the perfect pair and for only $2.50…umm YES PLEASE. These were a must have that I got lucky to snatch up. Along with the red Norton McNaughton wide leg trousers, I snatched up a military inspired White House Black Market jacket in black. Hello…how did I get so lucky? I also found two great costume jewelry necklaces, a yellow Notations tank, white & blue polka dotted Marnie West blazer (so lightweight and perfect for a chilly summer night out), yellow Merona graphic tee (which I will use as a beach cover up), and a grey Grave Studio polyester tank. Would you believe me if I said I got it all for under $60? Well believe it ladies and gents, it’s true. Until the next shopping spree…
When dressing, sometimes it’s hard to pick what trend to go with or what color palette to choose. To spice things up, some red piped leopard sling backs brought a splash of “sexiness” to a simple jeans and pale army green top combo. I love the way this rayon top lays and it’s versatility. Dressed down with jeans and flats, or dressed up with a mini and chignon…if only I had known how madly in love I would be with this garment, I would have bought it in every color.
P.S. I forgot my camera so sorry for the corny phone pics!!!
Being a fashion student definitely had its perks. The best of them all was meeting Cynthia LaMaide at her workshop. This women, without a doubt, was the nicest person I have every met. With connections like Lenny Kravitz and being featured in movies with Jennifer Aniston, she sure does have a low-key Michigan vibe about her. Thank you Cynthia for sharing your space, ideas, and advice…
