preview: vacation

After much needed vacation and a huge computer dilemma, and the reason for not posting, I am happy to show that we are back in action. A week in the U.P. of Michigan was just what the doctor ordered…of course fashion never took a backburner. I’m so excited to share with you all I’ve had planned with new outfit posts, vacation photos, and more updates.

I hope everyone has had an amazing holiday week!!!

Happy Monday xx J

aviation inspired

On a semi cool day, it’s a thin leather and my favorite crinkle chiffon scarf that I turn to. An aviation inspired outfit never gets old. Leather boots, leather jacket, tight skinny jeans, and neutral colors…don’t forget the aviator sunnies. Have you noticed how clothing continues to repeat history? I think I was suppose to be born in the days of pinup girls painted on the side of a fighter pilot’s plane. Outfits like these are what gets me excited about fashion. How do you theme your outfits???

thrifty finds

With a much needed wardrobe facelift, it was time to hit the stores. To my surprise I found AMAZING items at the local Salvation Army/thrift store. It boggles my mind how people give away such great pieces like these The Limited Aubrey Fit wide leg trousers in cream. They are simply timeless. I’ve been searching for the perfect pair and for only $2.50…umm YES PLEASE. These were a must have that I got lucky to snatch up. Along with the red Norton McNaughton wide leg trousers, I snatched up a military inspired White House Black Market jacket in black. Hello…how did I get so lucky? I also found two great costume jewelry necklaces, a yellow Notations tank, white & blue polka dotted Marnie West blazer (so lightweight and perfect for a chilly summer night out), yellow Merona graphic tee (which I will use as a beach cover up), and a grey Grave Studio polyester tank. Would you believe me if I said I got it all for under $60? Well believe it ladies and gents, it’s true. Until the next shopping spree…

When dressing, sometimes it’s hard to pick what trend to go with or what color palette to choose. To spice things up, some red piped leopard sling backs brought a splash of “sexiness” to a simple jeans and pale army green top combo. I love the way this rayon top lays and it’s versatility. Dressed down with jeans and flats, or dressed up with a mini and chignon…if only I had known how madly in love I would be with this garment, I would have bought it in every color.

P.S. I forgot my camera so sorry for the corny phone pics!!!

CL’s workshop

Being a fashion student definitely had its perks. The best of them all was meeting Cynthia LaMaide at her workshop. This women, without a doubt, was the nicest person I have every met. With connections like Lenny Kravitz and being featured in movies with Jennifer Aniston, she sure does have a low-key Michigan vibe about her. Thank you Cynthia for sharing your space, ideas, and advice…

easter floral

As I continue to experiment with mixing prints, stripes and florals have become my all time fav. There’s something that is so timeless about these two prints and together they just fill my fashion heart with joy. Easter was such a beautiful day, so what better way to compliment it with yellow skinnies and bright shoes (that I barely get to wear because they are oh so tall). Moments like these make me appreciate, even more, that I’m a girl!!!

P.S. These photos were taken by my 6 year old niece!!!

detroit spring

It’s a great feeling to be a Tigers fan and the boys are sure showing the MLB how it’s done. Sunny days like this call for a English D cap, some oversized sunnies, leggings, and a boyfriend sweater. Blues and warm grays have been go-to colors for the winter and it’s been hard to let them go. I’ve pushed the sweater limit so it’s time to pack them away. Every chance I get with this sun is another reminder of just how close summer is. Lakes, bikinis, boats, and cocktails are almost here people…I can feel it now!!!
